La Tonnelle de Murviel is the perfect base to discover the local prestigious vineyards of Saint Chinian, as well as the diversity of the surrounding Mediterranean countryside, from the montagnes du Sud to beautiful medieval villages, as well as the nearby beaches approximately 20 minutes drive away. The beaches of Cap d’Agde, Valras and Gruissan are all easily accessible. 

The area offers lots of popular outdoor activities. Whether you choose to hike along the mountain paths in the ranges close to Murviel, or cycle along routes along the picturesque river Orb, where you can also experience white water rafting, there is something for everyone.

There are also visits to open air markets in the area, where one can sample the plentiful produce from the local wine and cheeses,  to fresh fruit and vegetables as well as local specialties and delicacies.

For history lovers, there is the opportunity to visit various archeological and historical sites, ranging from the Greek and Gallo-Roman period to the Medieval and more recent times, representing nearly 3, 000 years of history in the area.

• The local vineyards

On request, your hosts can organise transport and be your guides in English to the local Saint Chinian vineyards where you will taste the wines from  this well known wine growing region.

• The river Orb gorges (Canoeing)

On request, we can organise Canoe trips on the Orb river renting boats from qualified canoing experts. Descending the Orb river can take from 2 to 6 hours depending on the trip. There is even a possibility of organizing a bivouac of up to 3 days with professional canoers.

• Mountain bike trips

We can help and advise on all types of intineries in the surrounding region and supply maps and other information.

• Hiking on the walking paths or the iron ways of the Caroux and the Espinouse
